Hello 2014!

Hello 2014! Sorry I was ignoring your existence there the past month but I am finally ready to come in to this New Year now. I’m starting to be convinced they invented New Years Resolutions to distract you from the month of January, and how miserable it can be. You have the illusion of coming in to a new start but you really come in with a bad hangover and old Christmas decorations still up. Plus you have to go back to work! To say I have been a bit grouchy about the month of January may be a bit of an understatement but I am finally over it now and ready to embrace the New Year! Its only February, still counts.

So with all of January to have time to reflect on the past year I have been thinking about this little internet space I call my own and the resolutions I want to make for it, and resolutions I want to make in my own life. I spent a lot of Christmas watching Netflix (Shock!) and a lot of documentaries that come with it. And a lot of them got me thinking about the choices I am making in my life and the choices I subsequently make on this blog. I’m not talking a major overhaul here as I am pretty happy with a lot of the choices I made in 2013 but I want to be more conscious about what I project out into the world and what I take back. Documentaries like Food Matters and the Walmart documentary got me thinking about the products we buy that aren’t really necessary or thought about.  I feel it can be really seen in the Blogosphere at the moment in many forms. Don’t get me wrong I love to read a good beauty related post or a home wares haul but I guess I want to be a bit more conscious about what I am buying and if it's necessary. I noticed in my blog last year I had a theme of Penneys Hauls and while I am not promising I wont set foot in Penneys again I really want to make a conscious effort to shop in more independent stores or actually wear what I own! The same goes for Skincare and food, I want to start making a more conscious effort in choosing what I put in and on my body knowing how it affects me and the company that make it. I come from a craft background and work in the craft industry so in some ways I am conscious about where things come from but I wasn't bringing it in enough to my day to day life.

Yes this post is a bit babbly and I do plan to go into more details in future posts but in simpler terms I was finding it difficult to find New Years Resolution this year and I now know it is to just be more conscious in every aspect of my life.

Way to be vague Claire, Ha! Anyway I hope everyone is having a great start to 2014! I know I will now, it took a while to get into it but I am finally excited for what 2014 has in store for me and for this little blog of mine.

Ps. I realise the picture above has nothing to do with this post but it was pretty much how I spent the bulk of my Christmas and January :P
