Monthly Favourites || March 2015

A post series I haven’t visited on the blog lately is actually one of my favourites to read from other bloggers, a monthly favourites post. As I am trying to get into more of a schedule with this blog I thought it might be fun to share some of my favourites from the past month.

I am going to put this to the top of the list as I think it was the most important thing that I got this month. Finally after moving in January we got broadband connected in our house. One of the joys of living in the countryside is that everything seems to take weeks longer that anywhere else to get connected. It seems like such a small thing to get excited about but for someone like me who works from home and works online it was really important to finally get connected. Also the lack of YouTube was causing a serious void in my life.

I love being organised! It’s one thing in my life I know I am good at but a helpful organisational tool I have always tried and failed at was Evernote. I was more of a traditional type of organiser with note books in every shape and colour to keep myself on track. Recently though I have become overwhelmed with the amount of different notebooks I had been keeping for each area of my life and wanted just one place to keep everything sorted. This is where Evernote came in and I am now converted. If anyone is interested in seeing how I organise myself with Evernote let me know in the comments below and I can do a separate post.

If you are a follower of beauty bloggers you know about Diptyque candles. They are raved about by so many that even with the hefty price tag attached you can’t help but want to get your hands on one. Before Christmas I was in the new Space NK store in Dublin and finally got to see the Diptyque candles IRL and they didn’t disappoint in their beauty. But even with there loveliness I could not bring myself to buy a full size. I instead got myself a mini version of the fig tree scent (amazing!) setting me back €25. I have included it in my March favourites even though I have had it a while as I saved lighting it for a special occasion (I justified getting internet as my special occasion).

The one upside of no internet was that I actually started reading books again and have got through a few since the start of the year but my favourite by far is How to be a woman by Caitlin Moran. I just love her style of writing and thinking. There were moments in this book I was in hysterics laughing, her chapter on weddings is my bible now, and other more serious moments that made me want to run away from being a woman altogether; if you have a sensitive nature just avoid the chapter on having her first child. It’s one of those books I wish someone had given me when I was a teenager to give me a smarter  insight into what may lie ahead.

Other Favourites:
  • Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Bashful – I haven’t been wearing much makeup this month so this is a great throw on lips but better colour.
  • Soap & Glory Orangeasm – Have been using this since Christmas and no sign of it running out! Best morning shower gel to get me feeling even slightly more awake.
  • MUA Palette in Heaven and Earth – I bought this last year and completely forgot about it. For such a affordable palette it has some great colours to throw on your eyes. I am particularly fond of the brassy orange in the top right.
  • My table! - I made a simple little stool/table this month. It was great to get making again and hope to do a bit more in April.
  • And 90's patterns apparently have also been something I am loving lately as you can see from the background. Looks a bit weird but better than my dirty floor I assure you.

I hope this post was interesting to read. It’s fun going back to review what you have been loving that month. Do you do favourites post? I would love to see for some April inspiration so leave your link below for me to read.
