It's been awhile since I've done a little life update on here (February!) and lots has been going on the past few months. I have been settling into my new life in the North West and keeping myself busy with as much work and projects I can. I have gone from a 9-5 office job to working from home and I am still getting to grips with all that involves. It can be challenging to get the work life balance right but I feel like only now I'm getting finally there. Here are a few things I have been up to.
As I mentioned in my last post there were a few reasons for my blogging hiatus but the main reason was a big project I was working on throughout the summer that left me wanting to use my off time to be away from my laptop as much as possible. This project did cumulate in getting the chance to visit New York for the first time so was well worth the crazy work hours. New York was a great experience, it was my first time visiting and of course TV and films had left me with many thoughts in my head in what it should have been like. I think it definitely lived up to those preconceptions I had of the place, there really is a buzz when you were there. And when they say the summer is humid they REALLY mean it! I don’t think I could be the personality type to live there but amazing to visit and I would love to make another trip there in the future, but maybe at a time I don’t sweat myself away when I step outside.
Weekend with Friends
Back in college you really take for granted how great it is to have your friends so close, only a short walk a way for a drink, or even a short trip down the hall in your student house to chat over a cup of tea. Then adulthood kicks in and everyone heads off in their own directions and seeing one another once a month is seen as a luxury. Back in July we finally organised a few of our friends to come up to Donegal for a weekend and it was so much fun beach exploring and many a cocktail. It was also great for our friends to get a taste of our life up here in the wilds compared to big cities they live in. Hopefully I can get them all up to visit again soon but we will leave out Risk this time! (the Risk War of 2015 will go down in history)
We had a another great family wedding; my big brother had his big day in October and I was lucky enough to be bridesmaid for the big day. I got to wear a beautiful dress and walk up the aisle with my adorable little niece, it was great to be part of such a beautiful day. Weddings can be stressful and so much goes into it all before the big day but it's so great to just hang out with the family all in one place and celebrate something so joyful.
Other things filling up my life lately;
- Long car journeys; with work and family we have been living in our car this year and a 3 hour car journey is now like popping down to the shop.
- IKEA; I have been a frequent visitor of this place far too much this year but our little cottage is pretty cozy now.
- Gilmore Girls; I finally finished the entire series! I have been watching on and off for the past year and the show really went down the last 2 seasons but I had to finish and know what happened all my beloved characters. I am very excited for the newly teased episodes
Hope you enjoyed my little update; I want to start doing these more often as sometimes I can get so in routine and next steps for future plans I don’t take the time to reflect on what’s been bringing me happiness and making most of right now.
