Out & About || The DraftHouse SligoMonday, December 14, 2015
Back in July when we had our friends come to stay with us up here we took them for a little trip on the Wild Atlantic Way to the always idyllic Strandhill in Sligo. It is a bit of a drive away from where we live but we are still regular visitors to the place, especially for the Sunday markets. A few of our friends are big beer heads so when I heard Drafthouse had opened up we headed there to test it out.
The menu selection in minimal but there is something there for everyone I think. I got the ever so hipster pulled pork sandwich with fried egg, and I can’t tell if it was because I was slightly hungover from the night before but it was amazing. And of course I had to get a good beer to go with it and crispy sweet potato fries too. If you are into a more healthy option the salad my friend got looked pretty tasty too (and massive!). The presentation is a bit over the top, like my friends copper tap board that comes with the burger but it’s so ridiculous you kind of have to appreciate it. Overall the place is styled really well and I love all the laser cut serving boxes. Great spot for a quick pint with friends and there is of course the advantage of being in Strandhill so you can make a quick visit to the ice-cream shop down the road, and then pop into Shells Cafe for a coffee before heading home.
